Le Quartier des Spectacles
1435 Rue Saint Alexandre Montréal, QC H3A 2G4

Montreal’s cultural distric hosts iF3!

Le Quartier des Spectacles can be summed up with the following three words: life, art, entertainment.
With a vast concentration of cultural assets, the Quartier des Spectacles is one of Montreal’s most important cultural centres. It holds a variety of outdoor parks such as Place des Arts and Place de la Paix, and important cultural buildings such as the Monument National theatre, Olympia theatre and the Montreal Opera. The area continually hosts various exhibits that encourage playful interactions within the urban environment such as the massive spotlights that could be controlled by oversized joysticks or the 21 musical swings, each with its own musical characteristic.

iF3 would like to continue this positive interaction between the city and its citizens by inviting everyone to come and join our free Outdoor Village, located in the heart of the Quartier des Spectacles at Place de la Paix. Open from the 13th until 16th of September, the village will showcase artists, musicians, and film screenings for all to enjoy.

Place de la Paix
Place de la Paix, Boulevard Saint-Laurent, Montreal, QC

Historic Montreal Park hosts iF3 Outdoor Village!

As its name suggests, Place de la Paix, or Peace Park, was commissioned under Jean Doré’s mayoral administration in remembrance of those lost in international Nuclear tragedies and as a testament to Montreal and Canada’s continued dedication towards a peaceful world. The park was inaugurated in 1994 and is made largely of granite with surrounding arborage.

Although not part of the designers intention, the large ledges made an ideal place to skateboard. Despite the hefty fines that can be given out for skateboarding in the park, it has become a popular spot in skateboard and youth culture. It has been host to the “Represent” festival, which showcases, MC’s, breakdancing, graffiti, and skateboarding, and to the “Under Pressure” graffiti festival. iF3 is proud to add to the parks list of young and exciting festivals by making Place de la Paix the site of its iF3 Outdoor Village. All are welcome to come and join us free of charge from September 13th through 16th for artistic, musical, and film presentation.

Monument National
1182 Boulevard Saint-Laurent, Montréal, QC H2X 2S5

The Nike iF3 2012 is moving to a new theatre!

The Monument National is the oldest theatre in Quebec that is still in use today. It opened June 23, 1893 and was recognized as a National Historic Site of Canada in 1985. The Monument National has three theaters, the Ludger-Duvernay, Studio Hydro-Québec, and the smallest theatre, La Balustrade. Located in the heart of the Quartier des Spectacles, it stands out as a great place to create, exchange and dissemination culture.
