Felix Rioux – President
Born in Montreal, Felix Rioux has been an action sports photographer since the young age of 15, specializing in freeski, nature, and travel photography. From modest beginnings, he has since grown to develop a strong international reputation. In 1999, Salomon sports hired Felix as assistant manager and photographer for their freeski department. Since then, the photography world has opened its doors to Felix, providing him the opportunity to travel the world. He has worked with internationally renowned athletes such as JF Cusson, JP Auclair, Charles Gagnier, Pep Fujas, Eric Pollard, Lannick B., TJ Schiller, JF Houle, and Kaya Turski, following the winter and exploring the world in an effort to capture the essence of freeskiing at its best through still frame photography. His experiences in the mountains of Japan, Argentina, Sweden, New Zealand, Quebec, the Swiss and French Alps, and the North American Rockies inspired Felix to contribute to the evolution and progression of freeskiing.
Outside his career as a photographer he has also excelled as an entrepreneur within the action sports industry. In 2000, after recognizing that freeskiing needed a home in the retail market, Felix and two associates started the first ever shop dedicated entirely to twin-tip skiing: the D-Structure Pro Shop. He left the company in 2006 and one year later became the president and cofounder of the International Freeski Film Festival (iF3), which has grown from a single event in Montreal, to a multi-event series that spans 3 countries on 2 continents. iF3 enters its sixth edition in September 2012. The purpose of Createur d’avenir competition for businesses, presented by Les Affairs magazine was to select the Top 25 entrepreneurs and influencers of the next generation in Quebec.
